dc.description.abstractIn the course of its existence English was brought into contact with at least three other languages, the languages of the Celts, the Romans, and the Scandinavians. As a result of these contacts certain linguistic features were borrowed, especially additions to its vocabulary. The present article deals with the Celtic influence on the English language. It gives a brief overview of the Celtic varieties of English and the Celtic Hypothesis.en_US
