This article examines the hypothesis that differences between normative French and Bulgarian medical texts with similar initial parameters (communication situation, status of the communicators, shared intraprofessional context and terminology tools) can also be interpreted as intercultural differences, which should be taken into consideration in translation. A contrastive analysis of 36 French and 32 Bulgarian discharge summaries, belonging to the same textual subtype (‘sousgenre textuel’), reveals such differences regarding both the macrostructure and the specific discursive implementation of each of the compositional parts of the texts.en_US
