SYNTACTIC REALIZATIONS OF THE GERUND AND ITS MODIFIERS

Abstract

The object of the current study aims to present the dual nature of the gerund and the functional classification of its modifiers. Special attention is given to the peculiarities of the gerund form from a lexical, morphological and syntactic perspective. The inherent characteristics of the verbal adverb small clause are also submitted. An attempt has been made to describe and classify the syntactic realizations of the gerundʼs modifiers, using both the formal and semantic models.
