This paper aims to make an intertextual analysis of three short stories by three Bulgarian authors: “Bae Mitar the Prophet” by Mihalaki Georgiev, “In the Next World” by Elin Pelin and “Adventure in Paradise” by Svetoslav Minkov. These texts share a common motif – the journey to the otherworld. The analysis shows how this motif and the traditional beliefs about the world beyond are used to achieve satirical purposes and criticize society.en_US
