The focus of the present study is on the forms for the absolute superlative degree (elative) in two languages – Bulgarian and German. The degrees of comparison are inherent not only in all Slavic languages, but also in the languages of the Indo-European language family. It has been studied by a number of linguists. Nevertheless, the absolute superlative in particular has not been the subject of extensive scientific research, which gives us reason to focus on such a topic and try to discuss the problem in a comparative plan, briefly presenting the essence of the elative phenomenon itself and classifying the ways of expressing elative meaning in the two languages being compared.en_US
