The subject of the present study is the abbreviated infinitive in Modern Bulgarian – a language form that is not actively used, occurs in certain functional styles, and is not stylistically neutral. Our interest in the topic is dictated by the fact that although this form is used less and less in modern speech practice, it is of interest to Bulgarian language specialists, as it is a remnant of an old Bulgarian reality that has disappeared in the course of the historical development of our language. Based on a large number of excerpted examples, we try to prove that the abbreviated infinitive is not completely forgotten and is still used by native speakers.en_US
