The study examines the meanings and usage of terms used to describe the reproducible constituent language and speech units: standards, clichés, patterns, and trite phrases. The aim is to update the need to distinguish between two types of terms. The set expressions are defined as a standard (clichés), and as trite phrases – words and expressions frayed out from overuse or standards that are used in an inappropriate context and have a negative semantic and stylistic effect.en_US
