This article discusses Otherness in the poetry of the contemporary Polish poet Eugeniusz Tkaczyszyn-Dycki (1962) with a special focus on the nonstereotypical maternal imagery and artistic language. The author moves away from the traditional glorification of the mother in Polish literature by exploring some unpopular and deeply private dimensions of the maternal image. Ultimately, Dycki creates new connotations related to the image of the mother and at the same time reestablishes the othered mother as an organic part of the Polish poetic tradition.en_US
