ON THE QUESTION OF THE PLACE OF THE AORIST AND THE IMPERFECT AND THEIR OPPOSITION IN THE TEMPORAL SYSTEM OF SPANISH AND BULGARIAN

Abstract

The object of the present theoretical essay is the opposition of the verb forms of aorist/imperfect in Spanish and Bulgarian. The main goal is through the method of comparative analysis to present the basic interpretations of the systemic meaning of the two verb forms and their relationship in the temporal system of the two languages and to expand the horizons of reflection on the issue. The article examines the different points of view, and the author draws attention to her opinion. The observation demonstrates that the similarities in the interpretations of the meanings of aorist and imperfect and their opposition prevail, and it is crucial to determine the location of the imperfect in the temporal system, as this issue is the subject of much discussion.
