The task of this text is to track how the novel “Krotkite” (“The Meek”) by Angel Igov presents one of the most emblematic images connected with the processes that began in Bulgaria following September 9th, 1944 – the People's Court. The activity of the People's Court as part of the history of Socialist Bulgaria cannot be observed without considering the events that occurred after 1989 and the changes in regards to how we think and speak about traumatic moments from the recent past that inevitably influence our national identity. For this reason here we are going to make a clarification by briefly presenting the two fundamental views towards this fragment from our history, that have been formed shortly after the establishment of the democracy in Bulgaria. In the course of the research we use some of Baudrillard's theoretical models.en_US
