This paper provides an examination of the relationship between theory and practice. It is based on Virginia Woolf’s theoretical views explicated in two of her essays: “A Room of One's Own” (1929) and its companion piece – “Three Guineas” (1938). The present study seeks to explain the way Woolf’s cultural criticism is linked to the fictional story used in her unfinished novel “Between the acts” (1941), as well as the way her political, social and cultural views are transformed into a fictional story. The report is focused on the fundamental question which concerned people in the period between the two world wars, “How to prevent war?”en_US
