This article focuses on the essence of the concept of space, which is considered in a philosophical and linguistic aspect. A detailed review of the research on this issue in Russian and Bulgarian scientific literature is presented. The exposition shows clearly that space has been particularly important for the archaic model of the world. It (as well as time) refers to the basic meaningful philosophical categories without which it is impossible to perceive the model of reality. A special place is devoted to the linguistic aspect in the spatial relations analysis.en_US
