dc.description.abstract | In linguistics, it is a commonly accepted fact that world languages are not isolated from one another. People communicate with each other and establish historical, religious, political and economic ties. As a result of these contacts, elements from one language penetrate the other and lexical borrowings are the most common result. In the present study, our attention is drawn to the proper nouns, denoting people and having Turkish derivational formants that are part of a dissertation examining nominal derivation in contemporary Turkish. The aim is to determine word formation types and models, their productivity, the semantics of formants, the lexical and grammatical characteristics of the motivating base forms, the synonymous relations, in which, on one hand, derivatives are involved, and, on the other hand, formants. | en_US |
