The aim of this paper is to observe some lexical groups in contemporary Bulgarian in whose roots traces of Old Bulgarian are found. The article suggests a classification of the excerpted words by phonetical, lexicological and morphological criteria. The “archeological” or etymological analysis follows each level of language. The main part of the study is focused on the root vӗdand its morphonological alternations.en_US
