The incorporation and competition of dialect models during the Bulgarian Renaissance can be explained both with a number of extra-linguistic peculiarities and with deliberately enforced norms, which were probably motivated by a strong sense of the revival of regional linguistic peculiarities. The present research is part of a PhD thesis, whose main task is to typologize in detail certain linguistic phenomena due to a competition between Western and Eastern dialects, by following the complex processes of interaction in texts from the Bulgarian Renaissance era.en_US
