This study examines meaning and mechanisms of hyperbolization from a communicative-pragmatic perspective, focusing on how they serve to realize the speaker’s intentions in constructing the pragmatic framework of the utterance. Based on the works of contemporary Russian writer Anna Matveeva, the analysis considers both conventional and individual hyperboles. The findings emphasize the functional role of hyperbole as a stylistic device that intensifies evaluation, conveys subjectivity and enhances the expressive potential of discourse.en_US
