This text examines Bulgarian phraseologisms characterizing two typical human qualities – work capacity and laziness – from the perspective of their structural features and usage. In terms of structural characteristics, emphasis is placed on the division of phraseologisms into verb-based and verbless types. The Bulgarian National Corpus was used as a source for tracing their usage, with a focus on answering the following question: How many of the phraseologisms are used with their phraseological meaning, and how many with their direct lexical meaning?en_US
