<title>THE MODERN PSYCHOLOGICAL NOVEL AND THE ISSUE OF SELF-IDENTIFICATION (IZOBRETATELYAT BY BORIS SHIVACHEV)</title>
<link>https://lib.uni-plovdiv.net/handle/123456789/1014</link>
<description>THE MODERN PSYCHOLOGICAL NOVEL AND THE ISSUE OF SELF-IDENTIFICATION (IZOBRETATELYAT BY BORIS SHIVACHEV)
Andonova, Vanessa; Андонова, Ванеса
In the article, we rely on certain psychoanalytical terms (unconscious mind,&#13;
homosexuality, bisexuality, self-reflection, negation) to examine how their usage&#13;
in fiction adds to the understanding of the complexity of the process of the&#13;
formation of a person’s identity. The exposition studies this through the uncertain&#13;
sexual identity of the main character, the relationship between parents and&#13;
children, as well as through the narrative form of the novel. The text’s main point&#13;
is that the influence of the psychoanalytical theory, which is found in the novel, is&#13;
a result of the conscious adherance to said theory. On the one hand, this is what&#13;
Boris Shivachev’s work does – it is modern and psychological, but on the other&#13;
hand, it allows that the issue of self-identification be examined in light of some of&#13;
the basic psychoanalytical concepts.

<title>MARINA TSVETAEVA – RECONSTRUCTION THROUGH MEMORY</title>
<link>https://lib.uni-plovdiv.net/handle/123456789/1013</link>
<description>MARINA TSVETAEVA – RECONSTRUCTION THROUGH MEMORY
Ivanova, Zoya; Иванова, Зоя
The topic of this paper are the memories of colleagues and&#13;
contemporaries of Marina Tsvetaeva, who outline the main points and&#13;
aspects of her character as an artist. I also briefly point out the influence of&#13;
the family environment, which is one of the cultural nests in Moscow, for the&#13;
formation of the poet’s personality. Facts and ideas about the poetess from&#13;
different periods have been selected, emphasizing the years of her childhood&#13;
and adolescence, key moments in any person's life.&#13;
Many of her contemporaries are unanimous in their assessment of her as&#13;
an extraordinary person, who is quite different from the rest of the people:&#13;
someone who everywhere and always strives to be herself.

<title>THE BOOK OF ILLUSIONS: ON A MAURICE BLANCHOT AND PAUL AUSTER CONNECTION</title>
<link>https://lib.uni-plovdiv.net/handle/123456789/1012</link>
<description>THE BOOK OF ILLUSIONS: ON A MAURICE BLANCHOT AND PAUL AUSTER CONNECTION
Neykova, Joanna; Нейкова, Йоанна
This paper is an attempt to explore the literary connections between Paul&#13;
Auster’s work and the French writer and thinker Maurice Blanchot through&#13;
the analysis of one of Auster’s novels – The Book of Illusions. The themes of&#13;
writing, death and literature are of great importance for both Blanchot and&#13;
Auster. Even though Auster’s works are usually read in a postmodern key,&#13;
they allow us to place him in a different context, thus revealing some of the&#13;
greatest influences that shaped him as a writer.

<title>THE APPLICATION OF DOMESTICATION AND FOREIGNIZATION TRANSLATION STRATEGIES IN BULGARIAN–ENGLISH TRANSLATIONS OF IVAN VAZOV’S EPIC OF THE FORGOTTEN</title>
<link>https://lib.uni-plovdiv.net/handle/123456789/1011</link>
<description>THE APPLICATION OF DOMESTICATION AND FOREIGNIZATION TRANSLATION STRATEGIES IN BULGARIAN–ENGLISH TRANSLATIONS OF IVAN VAZOV’S EPIC OF THE FORGOTTEN
Zhelyazkov, Yuliyan
The study offers an opportunity to examine and reflect on the problem of&#13;
translating culture-specific items (CSIs) in the translation of poetry from a&#13;
Slavic language (Bulgarian) into a Germanic language (English). The&#13;
research aims to identify the procedures linked to domestication and&#13;
foreignization in three of Ivan Vazov’s odes – “Levski,” “Paissy,” and “The&#13;
Volunteers at Shipka” from his poetic cycle Epic of the Forgotten (1881–&#13;
1884) – and their translations by the English translator and journalist Peter&#13;
Tempest (1976) and Mark Ripkowski (2017). Findings show that even&#13;
though the most commonly employed procedure when translating expressive&#13;
and authoritative texts is the literal translation which is linked to the approach&#13;
of foreignization, it is by no means the only strategy employed by the&#13;
translators of Vazov’s odes. Tempest foreignized 85.19% CSIs and&#13;
Ripkowski 79.46% CSIs.
