Boneva, Bozhidara
The Color Purple sparked controversy on its release, the black society was shaken by the depiction of violence within their ranks. Alice Walker’s tale achieves its effect through the introduction of relevant and hidden problems in diverse relationships. The goal of the following paper is to analyze the existence of love or lack thereof in those relations by questioning hierarchies through a feminist perspective and postmodern theories of subversion. The examination of The Color Purple shall ultimately provide clarity on the social criticism aimed at the work and on its pertinence to African-American women’s literary expression, life and position.

Marinova, Elitsa
In this paper we aim to trace how the motif of the city is present and transformed in Czech literature of the end of the nineteenth century through to the beginning of the twentieth century. We shall look into specific Czech prosefiction texts translated into Bulgarian: King Kofetua (1893) by Julius Zayer, The Beautiful Nemesis (1903-1906) by Ladislav Klima, The Fortress of Death (1912) by Jakub Dеmel and The Witcher City (1919) by Richard Weiner.

Shopov, Dimitar
This report represents a small part of the author's future dissertation work “The dance of death – genre-thematic impulses and national concretizations.” It focuses on two works titled Dance of Death – one by Hugo Ball, the other by Bernhard Kellerman. Foci of attention include the correlation between these two works and the Danse macabre tradition, as well as the impact of the two world wars on the two authors and on the genre-thematic impulse tradition. Hugo Ball describes the horrors of the first World war and Bernhard Kellerman depicts the nightmares of World War II. The two works give a new opportunity for the impulse Danse Macabre to be developed.

García, Ana Isabel
This work constitutes a concise sketch on the origin and development of foreign language teaching, offering a brief analysis on how language teaching has been conceived and understood throughout history, regarding not only its origins but also the most recent approaches and methods. Moreover, we will try to draw up the role that literature has had in different language teaching methodologies. In addition, this work seeks to justify the vast interest of the knowledge and the use of literature-based strategies while teaching and learning Spanish as a foreign language so that the speakers are able not only to demonstrate their linguistic level of a foreign language but also their social, cultural and historical understanding of the countries where Spanish is spoken.
